When asked, "how does one overcome social anxiety?" Annie said:
Well - counseling. I'm a firm believer in counseling.
Let me back up and say, communicating and interacting with people, it's not easy. And I think it's important to put that out there so it doesn't seem like we're just coming from our high horses.
We've been in uncomfortable interactions, and we are not the best communicators we could be. Even people who study this much longer than we've had, or practice much longer than we've had, nobody bats 1000....
For some people, that is their baseline, just nervous about interacting with people, But, hey, keep on showing up. You probably walk away feeling, "oh gosh, that was terrible. They probably think I'm stupid, what did I even say?!" Always remember, you are much harder on yourself than other people.
And, most of the time, I have found that people who say to me, "oh goodness, I had so much social anxiety." I'm like, "I couldn't even tell! You crushed it!"
