When asked, "what's been your favorite thing about fatherhood?" Nick said:
Oof... Kids just learn so much. You don't think about how much you take the word "the" for granted, until your five-year old is like "Hey! There's the word 'the'! That's one of our sight words."
Just like speech, and figuring out new things. Now, my five year old daughter is wanting to get in the garage and do car stuff with me. And to watch her pick something up that I am doing, or perceiving what I'm doing, and then 2-3 months later she's like, "there's a torque wrench, you have one of those!" And I'm like, "you're right, I do!" Like, that's great.
It's really rewarding. As somebody like myself, I'm a knowledge seeker, I'm always just reading something... [I] place a lot of value on information and self-education. It's incredible to watch. You don't realize how much you've learned in your life until you see people learning basic things and they're excited about it.
And plus, it's cool to have other people around who think farts are funny.
