When asked, "why is art important for self-expression?" Mia said:
I think a lot of times, artists and creators are expressing things that are really common feelings and emotions.
And, I think there is such power in sharing that with other people because you’re like, “wow, okay, really I don’t feel alone in this," or, "I’m not the only one who feels this way."
And I think that in a way builds community. So, having opportunities where artists are saying, “hey, I have this vision in my head of what I want this to look like. I’m going to create it, I’m going to share it, and I want people to feel connected to this piece, or the group of people that is viewing this piece."
I think that’s really important, and I think it uplifts people in a different way.
